Want to know what I love most about my work?
Last week, I had a coaching session that filled me with so much joy. A client I’ve been working with for over a year is getting a very big promotion, one she has wanted for a long time. I could not be more thrilled for her.
As a coach, my clients’ wins are my wins.
Over the years, I’ve supported folks through successes like earning promotions, resolving major workplace conflicts, and a CEO reorganizing their team so they could spend less time in the daily operations and more time doing CEO-level work.
There have also been more subtle, yet equally transformative, wins like shifting a perspective about a situation in a way that brings more peace into someone’s life, or finally having a really difficult conversation they had been putting off.
One of my favorite client wins involved cleaning out a spare bedroom that had become a junk room and turning it into a beautiful home office. She had landed a great job in a new city but had this existential dread that somehow it wasn’t real and she wasn’t going to be there for long.
Creating that home office became a symbol of something much bigger: She made it. She could relax and give herself permission to settle in.
I’ve accomplished some really cool things across my life and career, and being able to walk alongside people in their leadership journeys has been among the most rewarding.
