Your Life’s Work Gets a Lifetime

The other day, I mentioned to my doctor that I’d been feeling more tired lately.

I blamed the earlier sunsets and the chilly mornings.

He just smiled and said, “Yeah, that’s normal. We’re mammals and we slow down this time of year.

It was a simple reminder that I needed.

Just like the trees, the soil, and all the creatures tucking themselves in for the season, we are wired to slow down as winter approaches.

Our biology shifts. Our energy dips. Most people even sleep 15–20 minutes more this time of year.

The season of deadlines, final pushes, ambitious checklists, and the collective sprint toward “finishing strong.”

So here’s a gentle reminder: you can honor your commitments and honor your energy. You can show up for what matters without running yourself ragged. You can finish the year with intention AND give yourself the extra rest your body is asking for.

And if a few goals carry over to next year? That’s not failure—that’s life.

I once heard a quote that has stayed with me for years:
“Our life’s work is meant to take a lifetime.”

What a relief that is. You are building a life, not racing against a clock.

So as winter approaches, let yourself find a middle way, the place where ambition meets grace.

You’re still doing enough.

You are enough.
